In the 2024-2025 school year, Statesmen Theatre is excited to welcome its new Theatre Arts Director, Ahmad Maaty. Ahmad is an Egyptian American Actor, Singer and Choreographer, and an alumnus of Marshall H.S. He has served as choreographer for numerous Statesmen Theatre and Marshall Choir productions.
Ahmad has taught and performed throughout the U.S. and internationally with performances and choreography recognized by Helen Hayes, the Youth American Grand Prix, Broadway World, the Cappies, the Brandon Victor Dixon Awards, and the Jimmys. Ahmad was privileged to be a finalist at the Actors Studio (NYC) from 2012-13, and continues to train in various styles and forms of movement and dance. He was named 2018’s Best Choreographer by BroadwayWorld in a Small Professional Theater in DC. He was also a Helen Hayes Nominee for best choreography in a small professional theater for his work in Pippin with Monumental Theatre Company.
Ahmad has been affiliated with companies such as The Bats Acting Company and Les Shakespeare in NYC, and locally with Silk Road Dance Company, The Hub Theatre, Workhouse Arts Center, Monumental Theatre Company, Constellation Theatre Company, Acting for Young People, Arlington & Fairfax County Public Schools, and several others.
Ahmad holds an M.F.A from the Actors Studio Drama School in NYC, and he earned his B.A. in Theatre from George Mason University, where he has also serves as an Adjunct Professor for the School of Theater.
